How Do You Duplicate A Flash Symbol?
There are times when you need to make changes to an instance of a symbol without editing the original so that those changes don’t reflect in any other instances of the symbol on your stage or affect the symbol in your Flash Library. That’s when you duplicate the symbol, so you can safely edit it without affecting the original. There are two ways to duplicate a symbol. The easiest way is to click on an instance of the symbol on your stage, right-click, and click “Duplicate Symbol”. A window will appear, asking for a new symbol name. It will default to the old symbol name with the word “copy” appended; you can type in any symbol name that you want. Click OK after renaming the symbol. The instance of the symbol on the stage will now be an instance of the copied symbol, instead of the original. The second way is to copy it into your Library.
