Choose a picture without too much detail if possible. You will be drawing only the main lines that you want for reference on your finished drawing. Locate a point on the picture the makes the beginning of the image fall just above the line. Draw a horizontal line at that point by measuring down from the top and then making two marks at either side of the paper at that same measurement. Using that first line as a guide, mark one inch increments along the outer edges of the picture. Try to put the marks someplace that you can easily see them. Connect the marks so you have a page full of horizontal lines 1 inch apart Turn the paper a quarter turn and repeat steps 2 and 3 so you end up with a full page of 1 inch squares Take your plain paper and fill it with one inch squares. I usually put the picture on top of the plain paper with a quarter inch exposed so I can just copy where each line starts and ends.
