To really get the hang of sketching, you need to understand that it will take some practice to have an eye for what you are drawing and for how to do it. So place something simple in front of you (that doesn’t move if you want to start off easy) and get going. Take a look at your subject. Observe the subtle variations in darkness and lightness. Stay still so that you can keep the same perspective at all times. Start from one area and expand to the next. It’s difficult to draw the entire thing as a whole and fill in the rest because it’s hard to place things by estimating. Instead expand from a single point.
