Anime is a type of animation that has its roots in the Japanese manga comics. Drawing anime characters has become wildly popular among young people in particular. Learning to draw the pointed features and quirky angles of these colorful, cartoon-like illustrations can be fun, challenging and a great creative outlet. Draw a circle the approximate size you want the head of your anime character to be. The top may be left open, as this area will be covered with hair. Extend the circle downward on the bottom for the chin, from one side of the jaw area to the other. This can be pointed, or slightly rounded. Sketch in a set of crossed lines to guide you in the placement of your anime’s facial features.
