How Do You Draw A 12 Sided Polygon Or Dodecagon?
How to easily draw a 12 sided polygon or dodecagon using only a compass and a straight edge. First, draw a line with a mark at the center. Set your compass to the size you would like the dodecagon to be (eg: 4″ radius will make a dodecagon 8″ point to point). Then draw a circle using the center mark for the point of the compass. Next, at the intersection of the circle and line (2 points), draw two additional circles of the same diameter as the first. At the intersection of the second set of circles draw radius marks that intersect each adjacent circle. Again, use the same radius as the first circle. There will be 4 radius marks in all. For ease of drawing erase the second set of circles leaving only the intersecting marks of the circles. Also erase the line leaving only the intersecting marks with the first circle. Draw 2 lines (parallel to the original starting line) between the outer radius marks. Notice that each line will also pass through 2 radius marks on the circle. Next, draw 2
