How do you drain the oil on a 2001 Ford Escape?

If you look under the vehicle at the bottom of the engine, you will see at the lowest point on the engine, the oil pan. At the lowest point of the pan, will be the drain plug. This will look like a big bolt in the bottom of the pan. You will need to get a drain pan, something to catch the oil in. Remove the oil plug, by using a wrench. The plug unscrews in a counter-clockwise direction. When you remove it, have your pan ready underneath, and be prepared for a lot of oil to run out. I usually have rubber or latex gloves on. When you drain the oil, you will need to dispose of it legally and properly. It is against federal law to pour it down the drain, or pour it on the ground, even it is on your own property. That stuff will pollute the ground and get into the water table. You MUST dispose of it at a recycling center, or any place that accepts used oil for that purpose. When you change oil, you should also replace the oil filter. It is located at the front of the engine down low. There
