How Do You Drain Big Sur Waterbeds?

0

Whether you’re simply moving it or getting rid of it altogether, your Big Sur waterbed needs to be drained. While it might not look like a typical waterbed with its thick, zip up mattress cover, underneath it a Big Sur is similar to most other waterbeds. The fastest and most effective way to drain a Big Sur waterbed–or any waterbed for that matter–is to use an electric waterbed pump. Unzip the mattress cover of your Big Sur waterbed and fold the mattress cover back to expose the waterbed mattress. Turn the power off on your waterbed heater, if you have one, and disconnect the heater from its power source. Remove the cap and plug from your mattress and pull the fill valve out from the mattress. Insert the hose connector (the plastic valve from the waterbed fill kit) into the open valve on the mattress. Surround the valve with books to keep it in place and prevent the hose connector from popping out of the valve. Attach the short hose that’s attached to the suction side of the waterbed
