The R4 flash cart for the Nintendo DS allows you to use a number of homebrew applications on your handheld system. One such application allows you to play games on your DS system without the use of standard game cartridges. To get started, all you need is the R4 card and everything it comes with and a computer with Internet access. Insert the Micro SD card that came with the R4 into the Micro SD card reader that came with it. Plug the Micro SD card reader into one of the USB ports on the computer. Open the computer’s Web browser and navigate to the R4 Revolution download page. Download the latest firmware. Unzip the downloaded file with a program such as Winzip, Winrar or Stuffit Expander. Double-click on the Micro SD card’s icon to open its root directory. Place the contents of the file you downloaded in Step 3 into the root directory.
