Downgrading your Sony PSP firmware is useful when you are trying to install custom firmware. Sony PSP firmware 1.50 has an exploit that allows you to install user-created firmware. If you mistakenly upgrade your firmware to the most recent Sony firmware, you will lose the ability to install custom firmware. The only known way to downgrade is to use the Pandora battery and magic memory stick combo. Turn off your Sony PSP and remove the battery and memory stick. Remove the battery by pushing the battery cover release button. Once the cover is off, pop the battery out and place it to the side. Pull the memory stick cover off and push the memory stick in to pop it out. Push the magic memory stick into the memory stick slot. Place your Pandora battery in your PSP battery cradle. The PSP will turn on automatically. Press the “X” button on your PSP to downgrade your PSP to a lower firmware or custom firmware.
