How Do You Dock Start In Wakeskating?
A dock start in wakeskating is where you start off on a dock, or any surface other than the water. This gives you, the wakeskater, a little more freedom to experiment and have fun before you hit the water. As you get better at the dock start, you can add your own jumps, tricks and moves to the maneuver. Position yourself on the dock, diving board, or whatever surface you will be starting from, with your wakeskate in hand. Step back two or three steps from the edge if your boat takes off fairly quickly. If your boat is slower, take a few more steps back. Hold the rope handle in one hand and your wakeskate in another as you prepare to dock start. Have the boat driver pull up slightly to take the slack out of the rope. Have the boat driver take off quickly, with enough speed to keep you afloat. Run straight ahead and make your jump as you get to the edge of the dock.
