three taps and a quarter penetrates through a solid drinking glass… hold the glass upside down. Tilt the glass so the bottom of the glass is facing the audience. Holding the quarter between your thumb and index finger, demonstrate to the audience that the glass is solid. Tap the quarter all around the glass. Hold the quarter below the edge of the glass facing the audience. Tap the glass three times. Next act like you are going to hit the quarter hard and fast, but as you bring the glass down, tip the opening down slightly, and move the glass slightly forward. As the glass comes down, invisibly give the quarter a small toss upwards. Swoop the glass over the quarter as you continue to bring it down to your fingers where they were holding the quarter. the quarter will clank inside the glass, and give the illusion that it has penetrated the glass.
