“Okay, so now we’re going to talk about doing the splits. It is very important to give yourself a very good warm up, and as you’ll notice, in almost every dance class, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a dance class that doesn’t give a warm up. You’ll always have at least just 15 minute warm up, even in the hip hop class, you’ll do a stretch and a warm up. So, the first thing you want to do before getting into the splits is just loosen your body, feel comfortable, and you know, just definitely make sure everything is nice and loose. You then, a way I like to get into the splits is I like to start on my knees and I like to put one leg in front of me. I’ll then bend over and put my arms on the floor, and I’ll let my front leg slide out in front me, slowly, very very slowly, don’t rush, don’t push yourself.
