How Do You Do Science With Young Children?

0

There are many things that you can do with a young child that is science related. Young children can do simple science at home to build a foundation for future learning. Put some objects that vary in physical textures and features in a paper bag. Have child reach in and grab something. Ask the child to describe what the object feels like (smooth, hard, furry, soft, etc.). Have the child pull the object out of the bag and tell what the oject is and what it is used for. When the bag is empty refill it with new objects. Have your child reach into the bag and pull out an object (small rock, seashell, etc.) Let the child use a magnifying glass (under supervision) to look more closely at the oject. Have them describe things that they could not see before looking through the magnifying glass (more colors visible, cracks in the surface, etc.) children have lots of fun just exploring their world, and have no idea they are learning basic science!
