How Do You Do Calf Raises With Free Weights?
Having beautiful, toned legs is more than cosmetics. Strong, lean legs mean that you’re moving your body and keeping yourself healthy. But the aesthetic value of a good set of legs can’t be beat. Calf raises are a good way to tone your lower legs for a healthy and beautiful look. Stretch your calves. Find a wall and lean against it until you feel a stretch, pressing your heels to the floor. Hold for a count of thirty. Bend at the knee to move the stretch lower into your Achilles tendon. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Pick up your dumbbells. You can hold your dumbbells at your neck or at your waist, whichever is more comfortable. Tighten your core. Stand on your toes, raising yourself onto your toes slowly. Hold briefly and slowly lower your heels back to the floor. Repeat for 10 to 15 repetitions. Remember not to rush the exercise, but engage the muscles fully with each repetition. Complete three sets for a full calf workout. Stretch your calves at the end of the third set.
