The X jump is one of the first moves to learn once you advance beyond the basic bike tricks. This BMX trick requires you to make an X with your arms at the top of a simple jump, thereby embellishing your move and building your skillset. Ride your BMX bike toward a jump of any kind. The X jump can be performed on any surface. Regardless of whether you’re using deck jump or dirt track jump, the technique is the same. Gain enough speed to make your jump and keep some air beneath your tire. You’re going to need 3 to 5 seconds of hang time to perform the X jump. Grip both hands on the handle bars. At the top of the jump, turn your handle bars all the way in one direction without letting go, making the X with your arms. To make it easier on yourself, you might want to turn in the direction of your dominant hand, but you can go either way. Return the bars to their original position while still in the air and prepare to land the jump.
