How Do You Do An Essence Time Step In Tap Dancing?
The “essence” is the core step of the soft shoe, which was originally performed while wearing soft-soled shoes on a sandy floor. We are combining the essence with a time step. Although this is a time step, keep in mind that, when a dancer is doing the soft shoe/essence, she needs to be graceful and light-footed. (When “R” and “L” are used, the denote right and left, respectively.) Flap to the back (back brush or a spank) on your left and brush to the front on your right, stepping down on your right in front of your left foot. The dancer now steps on her L. Flap (back brush step) on your right and brush to the front on your left, stepping down on your left in front of your right and stepping R. Flap (brush step to the back) on your left, and also on your right. Shuffle on your left and step down in front of your right foot onto your left foot. Then step onto your right. Flap to the back (yet another back brush) on your left, and do the same on your right. Shuffle on your left and step d
