When you are writing a paper in the subject of humanities, the Modern Language Association, or MLA, style is used; but when writing a paper in the social sciences, you need to use the American Psychological Association (APA) style. In some ways, the two styles are similar. There are differences, however, including the APA’s emphasis on date of publication.
