How Do You Do A Yoga Sun Salutation?
In Yoga, a Sun Salutation, also called a Surya Namaskar, is one of the basic poses, including a series of 12 steps. The Sun Salutation is great for beginners to help improve flexibility and gain strength and warm up when learning or getting ready to perform other poses in Yoga. Stand with your back straight and bring your hands up to the prayer position. This also helps to center the body. Exhale at this position. Inhale and raise your arms up over your head. Arch your body backward so that your arms are near your ears. Keep your knees straight. Exhale and bend forward. Place your hands on the floor next to your feet. You may bend your knees if it’s necessary to touch the floor. Inhale. Leaving your hands where they are, stretch your right leg back and drop your knee to the floor. Arch your back, stretch your head up and lift your chin. Exhale and move your left leg back so that your body is in a straight line. Keep your toes forward. This position is like the beginning of a push up. R
