While some might think that cheerleading is nothing more than looking pretty and shaking pom-poms, the reality is that cheerleading requires strength, flexibility and agility. Some stunts can be extremely challenging. One cheerleading move that calls for more flexibility than some other moves is the scorpion. Stretch your lower back and hamstrings. Doing the scorpion requires an extreme amount of flexibility. Loosen and warm up these muscles before attempting to do this cheerleading stunt. Perform a split, with one leg straight out in front of you, knee and toes facing up. Your back leg should be stretched out behind you, with the knee and toes facing toward the floor. Arch your back and lean back toward your back leg. Bend the knee of your back leg to bring your foot up toward your head. Make sure your back leg is straight out behind you, not off to one side.
