Maintain contact with the cheerleader through the stunts. The ability to perform stunts flawlessly requires a steady support–or base–for the flyer. Lift the cheerleader up to begin the dismount. This lift creates the “pop” visual effect. The type of lift depends on the location of the cheerleader. If the cheerleader stands on your shoulders, bend your knees, move down and quickly stand back up. Brace the cheerleader through the entire dismount. Pop down dismounts place the cheerleader directly in front of the spotter. As the cheerleader comes down across your body, let your hands slide along the sides of the cheerleader.
