Church membership directories are important and useful for a variety of reasons. A priest or pastor may use the directory to learn more about members; new church members may use them to find other members who live nearby; or the directory can be used to contact members for an event. Such a directory can contain names, pictures and addresses. Collect church members’ information. Pass out index cards before or during worship services and have the members fill out the cards in church or at home. Further, you could have them return the cards to the priest or pastor, in a collection box at the front of the church or with their church envelope. Set a deadline–two to four weeks is advisable–to have them returned. Collect member names and their children’s names, addresses, phone numbers and interests.
