The variety of time steps in tap dancing is seemingly infinite. There are single and double times steps, triples, buck versus standard versions and so on. The time step is an eight-measure movement that is traditionally placed at the beginning of a dance routine so that the tempo is established. In the double triple double standard time step the dancer is adding another shuffle step to the regular triple time step. Brush your right foot to the front of the count of “a.” When a dancer brushes her foot, only the ball of her foot comes into contact with the floor. Hop in place on your left foot on the count of “1.” The dancer has done a brush and a hop, two taps/sounds on one count. Shuffle on your right foot on the count of “and a.” A shuffle consists of a forward and backward brush. The ball of your foot comes into contact with the floor on both the forward and backward brushes. The brushing leg extends to the front on the front brush and then the leg bends at the knee to accommodate th
