How Do You Do A Bridge Progression To A Back Walkover In Gymnastics?

0

The back walkover is often used in gymnastics to connect moves on the floor as well as on the balance beam. Working from a bridge position lets the gymnast to gain strength and perfect the proper technique to work into a back walkover successfully. Lie down on the floor with your palms flat by your ears and your knees bent and open so that your feet are flat on the floor. Push up and arch the back so you rise off of the ground, supported by your hands and feet only. Your head should be between your elbows. Strengthen the muscles by walking while in the bridge position, and by lifting and lowering one leg at a time. Kick one leg up and allow the other leg to follow, this should bring you into a handstand. Continue to bring the legs forward to land the back walkover, one landing before the other.
