How Do You Do A Bottom Turn On A Windsurf Board?
After catching and dropping into a wave, perform a bottom turn to head back up onto the wave and begin riding it. Drop into a wave by jibing in the trough between waves and catching the next incoming wave. Decide which direction you are going to ride the wave in. Backside is an easier bottom turn; however, the way the wave is breaking should be the most important factor. Reach the bottom of the wave and shift your weight back to the tail of the board. Lean your sail toward the tail of your board to slow your speed down slightly. Redirect the board up the wave by applying pressure to the rail on the side you want to turn toward. The more pressure you apply to the rail, the harder you will turn in that direction. Sheet in to keep up as much speed as possible. Stay aware of what the wave is doing and prepare to do a turn opposite of what you just did as you reach the top of the wave. Alternate frontside and backside turns to carve down the wave.
