How Do You Distract Yourself During A Shot (Needle)?
If you absolutely dread getting shots, these tips might help you get through that dreadful moment a bit easier. You can use the one you think might work best for you, or alternate, if you are getting too anxious. Don’t look at the needle. Concentrate on a foot, one of your hands, slowly wiggling it. Hum your favorite song or talk to the nurse/ doctor who is giving you the shot about something unrelated. Relax and talk as much as you like. Take your fingernail and dig it into a finger on your other hand as you are getting the shot. Pain in your finger will distract you from your arm. Pain from cold and a puncture feel the same. Tell yourself that you’ll feel a bit of pain because it’s cold in that spot.
