How do you distinguish the difference between implantation bleeding and ovulation bleeding?

You can have spotting with both and they both look about the same (pink or brown), and usually lasts only a day or two. Both are fairly rare. When you have ovulation spotting it is supposed to indicate a very fertile ovulation. The only way to distinguish the two is to know where you are in your cycle. Ovulation spotting will occur around mid-cycle (at the time of ovulation). You usually ovulate about 12-16 days before your next period (called the luteal phase). So, if you have a 30 day cycle, you would expect ovulation bleeding around day 14-16 of your cycle. Implantation bleeding occurs when the egg implants after ovulation- usually 7-10 days after you ovulate. So, if you ovulate on day 15 of your cycle, you would have implantation around day 23-26 of your cycle (right before when you would expect your period). Hope this helps! Good luck!!!
