How Do You Disinfect Chicken Coops With Bleach?
Chicken coops need to be cleaned and disinfected before the onset of winter to remove any bacteria and worms that can lay dormant until the following spring. One way to disinfect a chicken coop is to spray a bleach water solution to kill any bacteria in the chicken coop. Never disinfect a chicken coop with bleach until you have first removed all of the chickens, as the bleach is hazardous to their health. Remove the manure and debris from the floor of the chicken coop with a shovel or scraper. Spray down the floor of the chicken coop with a garden hose. Add ½ cup of bleach and a few drops of liquid dish soap to a bucket and fill it with water. Dip a scrub brush into the solution and thoroughly scrub the floor. Spray down the floor with the garden hose to wash away the solution and then let the floor dry. Add ¼ cup of bleach to a spray bottle and fill it with cool water.
