How Do You Disconnect An Ice Maker On A Whirlpool Refrigerator?
Whirlpool refrigerators with automatic ice makers are a convenience and offer an unlimited supply of ice. Water supplied to the unit is frozen into cubes, which are dumped into a storage bin or dispenser unit and made available for the next request for ice. The ice maker can be turned off if ice production is not desired, such as when the ice maker is not used for extended periods of time. The ice dispenser can also be disabled to prevent ice from being delivered frivolously, such as when a child is playing with the refrigerator. Open the freezer door. Raise the wire shutoff arm to the “Off” position (or move the slide switch to the “Off” position if your model of ice maker has a slide switch). Close the freezer door. Ice will be dispensed that is already made, but no more ice will be made. Open the freezer door. Press the “Lock” button (or the “Lock Out” button) located on the dispenser unit. Close the freezer door. The power remains on to the ice maker but the dispenser is deactivate
