How Do You Dig Up Tulip Bulbs?
Are you enjoying gardening with tulip bulbs? Using flowering bulbs in your yard is a terrific way to add color to the landscape. In order to get the best colors and have your tulips reproduce it’s important to know how to dig them up properly. During flowering months, allow your tulips to completely bloom out. Use a pair of sharp pruning shears to remove all the greenery and foliage from the flowers. Your plants will then focus on developing larger and bigger bulbs for next year instead of using all their energy for flowering. Using a hand shovel or trowel, carefully dig around the flower bed in a complete circle. Move inward on the flower bed and slowly dig to loosen the dirt. Using your fingers, dig down into the dirt feeling around for the tulip bulbs. You want to separate the bulbs from the dirt without damaging or cutting the roots.
