For a variety of reasons Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) can be one of the most difficult diseases to diagnose. The term actually refers to a range of fatigue-related illnesses, all of which are considered to fall under the umbrella term CFS. Until fairly recently, many health professionals dismissed CFS as a malady limited to hypochondriacs. Unfortunately, sufferers often found it hard to be taken seriously. Also, since the symptoms vary widely from individual to individual, CFS can often be misdiagnosed. Understand that there are no CFS specific tests and no universally identifiable CFS symptoms. Many patients may not even appear to be sick when they visit their doctors. Consult a doctor for extreme fatigue or other symptoms which persist even after getting several nights of good sleep.
