How Do You Diagnose A Fuel Pump Problem On A Land Rover?
The Land Rover’s fuel pump is responsible for delivering fuel pressure and volume to the engine. Lack of fuel pressure will cause the Land Rover to idle roughly and stall frequently. No fuel pressure will cause the Land Rover engine to make a cranking noise yet never actually start. There are two other instances when the engine will crank and not start, such as bad spark plugs or a damaged timing belt; once you rule those two scenarios out, you are left with a fuel pump problem and should see a mechanic to diagnose and fix the fuel pump. Open the hood of the Land Rover. Turn the key ignition; if you hear cranking of the engine but the engine does not start, this is the first sign in diagnosing a fuel pump problem. Attach the spark plug test to a plug wire. Have another person inside the vehicle turning the key. If you notice sparks, then the problem is not the spark plug. Spark plug testers can be purchased at a local auto part store. Locate the timing belt on the Land Rover. Refer to
