How Do You Determine What Tip To Use On A Paint Sprayer?
Using a paint sprayer on any project will decrease the amount of time and labor required to coat the project with stains, primers or interior or exterior paints. Different coating products feature very different consistencies, and the spray tip required to apply coating products is determined in part by the thickness of the coating. Other considerations when determining the appropriate spray tip to use are the surface you will spray and the paint sprayer’s ability to support the tip hole size. Determine the spray tip size by the thickness of the material you are spraying. Oil-based stain is much thinner than exterior house paints. Hole-sizes are labeled in thousandths of an inch: .011, .013, .015, .017, .019, and .021. The bigger the hole, the thicker the material the spray tip it will support. Determine the maximum width of the surface to spray, and use a spray tip appropriate for that surface. Narrow spray patterns are perfect for small surfaces because they allow for more definition
