A quality design is essential when preparing your website for the search engines. Proper designs are directly related to how well your site ranks in the search engines and how long a customer stays on your website. A proper website design is not difficult to achieve. Simply create an enjoyable, informative and noninvasive experience avoiding heavy sales pitches and excessive animations. Essentially, design your site from the customer’s point of view. Write content that clearly details the value of your website. Be specific and clearly inform customers of your site’s main purpose. Use a consistent font size (at least 12 point) and style throughout the entire website, with the exception of headlines and subheads. Use a dark or black serif font on a light or white background. Avoid too much text per page. Break long segments into multiple pages adding a “continue” or “next” button at the bottom of each page. Keep paragraphs no more than seven lines with proper spacing.
