Here’s how to design a parametric bookshelf. Determine measurements for the height, width and depth of the bookshelf for the space you need. Get a CAD (computer-aided design) program that will help you. You can download the free software for Alibre Design Xpress from the Alibre website. It’s meant to be a learning tool, so don’t be intimidated. Create a New Part in the program and put the parameters-the height, width, and depth-in the Equation Editor once you’ve opened it and selected the “Add” button to add parameters.
