How Do You Delete Uninstall Information From Windows Update?
When you install an update to the Windows operating system, it takes a snapshot of the current state of the machine. These backups are used in case you need to uninstall the update. These updates add up to hundreds of megabytes in used storage on the hard drive. Microsoft has added a Disk Cleanup tool in the Windows operating system. Using this tool, you can delete old uninstall backup copies on the hard drive. The tool deletes old backups and leaves the most recent, so you can still uninstall the last update if needed. Click the Windows Start button and select “All Programs.” In the list of directories, click the “Accessories” option. In this directory, select “System Tools” and then select “Disk Cleanup.” Select a drive on which the uninstall backups reside. For most installations, this is the “C” drive. Select the drive and press “OK”. Windows does a system check of your machine, so it takes several minutes for the cleanup tool to start. Click the “More Options” tab. In the section
