How Do You Delete System Restore Files In Windows XP?
The System Restore files in Windows XP serve an important purpose by keeping track of the state of your computer anytime changes are made. This allows the user to be able to restore a computer to a point in the past, saving himfrom any unwanted changes that may have been made. While important, these files can take up a significant amount of space on the hard drive. It is usually not necessary to keep all of them. Go to the Windows Desktop and click the “Start” button. Select “All Programs,” then “Accessories,” “System Tools” and “Disk Cleanup” (see graphic). The Disk Cleanup dialog box will appear and the utility will calculate how much space you may be able to free up on your hard drive. When it is finished, another Disk Cleanup window will appear. Select the “More Options” tab along the top of the window, and then click on the “Clean Up” button at the bottom of the window.
