Corrupted files from a single or dual boot system require a full wipe of the partitioned space. A new OS installation needs a clean partition. In a dual boot system the operating systems run off two separate partitions. Reformatting a hard-drive or partition will delete everything on it, leaving a clean slate for a new install. If you want to remove two operating system from your disk, you can remove one from within Windows, then delete Windows and be able to proceed directly to a reinstall of Windows if that’s what you want to do. Back-up all data from both operating system partitions that cannot be replaced. Burn a set of data DVDs for the most efficient use of space.
