How Do You Defrost An Upright Freezer?
Your upright freezer is filling up with frost and it’s taking over the ice cube trays. Don’t call an appliance repairman; this is a normal thing for a freezer to do. Roll up your sleeves and set aside a couple of hours and you’ll be able to defrost the upright freezer before you know it. Step 1 Empty the freezer completely of food. You can place the food in the sink or a large cooler. It won’t be out of the freezer long enough to thaw. Step 2 Unplug the freezer from the electrical outlet. Step 3 Place a pot of very hot tap water on each shelf of the freezer and close the door. Step 4 Check every half hour and use a towel or rags to soak up any melted water that has accumulated on the bottom of the freezer. Step 5 Replace the water in the pots as it cools. The ice will completely melt within an hour or two. Then, you can then remove the pans, wipe up any excess moisture and replace the food.
