How Do You Decorate Eggs With Crayons?
The wax in crayons prevents dye from sticking to your Easter eggs. You can use a crayon to make stripes, polka dots and zigzags. Hard boil several white eggs and let them cool. (See “How to Boil an Egg,” under Related eHows.) Draw designs on the eggs with crayon. Press firmly with the crayon so the wax really sticks to the eggshell. Prepare the egg dye. (See “How to Dye Easter Eggs,” under Related eHows.) Use a slotted spoon to gently lower the eggs into a dark color of dye. Leave the eggs in the dye for at least 3 minutes, until they are the desired color. Remove the eggs from the dye and allow them to dry. Place the eggs in an oven at 200 degrees F for 5 minutes, until the crayon softens. Wipe the crayon off with a paper towel. Dip the eggs in a lighter dye color, filling in the area where the crayon design was. Remove the eggs from the dye and allow them to dry. Store the colored eggs in an egg carton in the refrigerator.
