• Read “How to Decarbonize a Two Cycle Engine” and do what you can to regain the power like: decoking the engine and muffler and and checking, adjusting or replacing the spartk plug. • Compare the cost of reboring to the cost of buying a new engine. • Add to the cost the new piston and rings. • Subtract from the cost of reboring that value of having a more powerfull engine. This value is subjective and depends what you use the engine for. • Buy the new, bigger piston and ring(s). • Disassemble the engine and bring to the machine shop just the part that needs reboring. This will minimize your labor costs. • Have the machine shop rebore the engine. Assemble the engine with the bigger bore, change any gaskets if necessary.
