How Do You Deal With Roomies Napoleon Complex?

I’m going to have to disagree with the other responders. The Napoleon complex is actually a sign of very low self-confidence. I know, it sounds really counterintuitive, but it’s the truth. Underneath your roommate’s annoyingly arrogant exterior is a really insecure guy who is trying to protect himself by posing as a prideful, controlling man. If you try to break him down like you and the other responders would like to do, he’s most likely going to resist even more. In other words, it’s highly likely that he’ll become even more arrogant and judgmental in response to your attacks. It’s time for you to decide whether you can continue to live with him as things are. If the answer is no, then rather than trying to tear him down, one of you needs to move. Either you tell him to leave, or leave yourself.
