How Do You Deal With Racism And Prejudice After Obamas Election?
So soon after the announcement of Obama’s victory, I’ve already heard stories of prejudice and racism. There is something you can do! Racism can affect anyone and any race. If you are a victim of racism, try not to lash out. Keep in mind that those people who are against you are now officially in the minority! For Obama to win, it took every race, creed, nationality, and gender to create the huge number of voters who put him in office. Not one group was left out of Obama’s support system. He won by a landslide and the numbers speak to his popularity among most Americans. There will be people who are upset with this victory but you must not let them steal your joy or make you feel like you are less. Try to simply brush it off your shoulders. Having a strong mind-set is important but sometimes racism can be more serious. My advice would be to refrain from reacting at the same level as a racist would.
