How Do You Deal With Behaviors Of Autistic Children?
This article focuses on understanding the steps to improve the behavior of children with autism. Use a daily appointment book to write the day and time you notice the unwanted behaviors occuring. Count the number of times the unwanted behavior occurred on Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Make a line chart showing the number of times the behavior occurred for each day. Count the number of times the unwanted behavior occurred at each time slot identified (ie. 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, 3:30, 4:00, 4:30, 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, 9:00. Make a line chart showing the number of times the behavior occurred at specific times. Look carefully at the charts to determine the day and the specific times the unwanted behavior is occurring. Now…start documenting what you are doing at those times on those specific days to determine the antecedent(what comes right before the behavior occurs)
