In regards to the CD/DVD/Blu-Ray burning software package Nero 8, a patent activation is referring to specific features you have to purchase in addition to the program itself and activate in order to use. For example, Nero 8 on its own cannot read or write to Blu-Ray discs. You would have to purchase the patent through the Nero website, at which point you would be given an activation code you enter into the program to unlock the feature. You can also do the reverse of this procedure. Step 1 Start up “Nero Control Center.” Nero Control Center is essentially a separate program installed with Nero, a hub for changing all of the settings of your installed components as well as getting updates.
