How Do You Cut Window Trim Using A Miter Saw?
Trimming out the four sides of a window using a miter saw is about the easiest way to do it, and it has the cleanest look. The concept is basically the same as building a picture frame: Use just four pieces of wood, with both ends of each piece cut at 45 degrees to form the 90-degree angle necessary for a corner. Consider painting or finishing the trim before you install it, so you don’t have to worry about getting paint on the wall. Measure the top of the window frame and add 1/4 inch to each side of the measurement. Transfer the measurement to a piece of trim, marking the bottom edge (the edge that will sit closest to the window) and leaving 6 inches of excess trim on either side of the measured span. Place the trim on your miter saw, flat on the platform, with the marked edge facing the blade. Swivel the blade to 45 degrees, pointing away from the measured span. Cut the trim. Move the trim so the other mark is under the blade. Swivel the blade 45 degrees in the opposite direction. C
