How Do You Cut Up T-Shirts To Crochet?

0

Recycle your old T-shirts by crocheting rugs, handbags, decorative bowls and more! Cutting up old t-shirts is a great way to save money on yarn, recycle and make a craft all at the same time! Start by laying the t-shirt out flat, then cut strips of about 1/2-1 inch wide across the girth of the shirt. Cut of sleeves, neckline and any large seams and discard. Once you are finished cutting, you’ll have a bunch of “rings” and a few strips. Cut each of the rings at one end to make long strips. Now you have a choice. You can either tie the strips together at each end or you can sew the strips together at each end. I personally choose to knot them, if you’d like to do the same, just knot each strip together until you have a large strip of material. Finally roll the entire strip into a large ball and start crocheting!
