How Do You Cut Miter Corners On Trim Molding?
Trim molding, or just trim, is the decorative wood work that is placed around a door or other opening. In order to completely outlline an opening with trim molding, it is necessary to join together two pieces at each corner. What makes this difficult is that angles must be cut in order to join the two pieces seamlessly. Cutting perfect angles for these corners requires the use of a miter box or a compound miter saw. A miter box is an inexpensive method employed by most craftsmen who are doing a small job that only requires a couple of cuts. Measure the piece of trim and make a line on the back of your trim with your lumber crayon. Measure the outer or longer edge of the trim, rather than the edge that will receive the cut. Place a scrap piece of wood on the bottom of the miter station. The will protect the miter box from being cut by your backsaw. Position the trim in the miter box with its finished side up and the flat end against the back fence. Align the appropriate angle slot with
