How Do You Cut Marble Tile Manually?
Marble tile, like all stone tile, has natural fault lines running through it. The fault lines make it impossible to get a clean cut with certain tile cutting tools, such as snap cutters. A wet saw with a diamond blade is good for making straight cuts in marble. But if you need to make a curved cut, or prefer not to use a wet saw, then a carbide-tipped rod saw blade set into a hacksaw handle will serve your purposes. A sturdy hacksaw handle will hold up better when cutting marble than the more light-duty handle for a rod saw handle. Mark the marble tile where you need to cut. If a pencil mark is not visible on your marble, place masking tape along the cut lines. Place the tile on your work table or another secure surface, with the area to be cut hanging over the edge. Press the marble down to keep it steady. Cut into the marble with your saw. Use steady, even strokes, cutting away from your body. Work slowly so that you don’t crack the tile along the marble’s natural fault lines.
