If you don’t want to purchase premade burp rags, which are often so thin they do little to protect your clothing, try making your own. Burp cloths are easy to make at home. All you need are store-bought cloth diapers and patterned flannel fabric. In order to create your own burp cloths, you need to cut fabric to the correct size but this is an easy task that will take you just a few minutes. Unfold the fabric you intend to use for your burp cloth and press flat with a hot iron. Set the fabric, underside facing up, on your work surface. Place a cloth diaper on top of the fabric and pin it into place. Measure and mark a half-inch border around the diaper’s edge. Cut around the border with a pair of sharp fabric scissors. Sew the flannel cloth to the diaper. Cut away the excess flannel cloth. Leave a one-eighth inch border.
