Patterns are used in a variety of arts and crafts. They act as a template for creating shapes out of materials such as fabric or clay. Each material requires a pattern made from a different material. A pattern for a clay project would most likely be made from a material such as wood. To create this pattern, a bandsaw can be used to easily cut out the pattern. Draw the pattern piece on a sheet of paper. Use a dark pencil or pen to draw the pattern so the lines are easy to see when cutting with the bandsaw. If precision of the pattern piece is important, make sure the lines are not too thick when drawing the pattern. Select a piece of wood to cut in the shape of the pattern piece.
